Short, active practice works best

Show only a manageable number of cards. Ask the learner to respond before revealing or supplying an answer, revisit less-secure letters more often, and stop while attention is still strong.

  1. Name huntFind the first letter in the learner’s name.
  2. Case matchPair uppercase and lowercase versions.
  3. Letter neighborsAsk what comes before or after a letter.
  4. Quick sortSort letters by lines, curves, or both.
  5. Teacher-led sound linkSay the sound used in your program and connect it to the letter.

About audio: This resource intentionally does not play letter sounds. English sound–spelling relationships vary by word and instructional sequence, so sound practice should be modeled by a knowledgeable adult or an approved program.
